Travel photography Spain

Over the last 20 years, I’ve visited Spain more times than I can remember. I love Spain! There are three simple reasons for this: stunning landscapes, friendly locals and fantastic food. Just like France, Spain is also a master in wine and cheese! My favorite Spanish cheese is cabrales.

Travelling through Spain is what I like to call ‘easy travelling’. The weather is good for most of the year and the food is delicious and affordable. And the people are incredibly welcoming!

Here are some unmissable dishes that you have to try while you’re in Spain!

  • Paella Valenciana. A delicious saffron-based rice dish, traditionally topped with rabbit and chicken in Valencia
  • Patatas Bravas. Fluffy, fried potatoes with the perfect spicy tomato dipping sauce on the side.
  • Jamon. Delicious cured ham, that you’ll see available all over Spain in local markets and supermarkets.
  • Churros. Similar to a doughnut, churros are deep-fried sweet batter dipped in sugar or chocolate.
  • Croquetas. A popular tapas dish that sees bechamel sauce and ham covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried until golden brown.
  • Pimientos de Padron. The humble green pepper grilled and served with a sprinkling of salt.
  • Gazpacho. A refreshing cold tomato soup served up during the heat of the summer.
  • Tortilla. The best start to the day – a thick omelette made with potatoes, chorizo, peppers, onions and whatever else you fancy!
