Travel stock photography Turkey

All in all, I have travelled around Turkey for about two months over a series of five trips, all of which took place between 1999 and 2012. Being able to see the country change and develop over these 13 years, has led to a varied portfolio of travel stock photographs of Turkey.

I love to rent or buy cars when I’m travelling. Just like I did in India and Australia. It just gives you that little bit more of freedom, to explore towns you wouldn’t usually see, and to stop to take photos at any opportunity. That’s why I think that the best way to see Turkey is to rent a car. This way you can avoid the overly touristy areas and the slow public transport, and get to the heart (Cappadocia!) of the country and its lovely people.

With plenty of first-hand experience travelling through the many cities and along the winding roads of Turkey, here are two places I’d recommend putting at the top of your to-do list:

  • Cappadocia. Famous for its fairytale-esque scenery, Cappadocia is known for sunrise hot air balloon rides and unbeatable day hikes.
  • Istanbul. Capital of Turkey, there is so much to see and do in Istanbul; from its plethora of mosques to its vibrant spice markets.
